*NOTE* This is my first attempt in writing an actual review.
So I just finished watching this weird Japanese movie, Virtual Detective Tabito Higurashi or Shikaku Tantei Higurashi Tabito. It was directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi and was released Novenmber 20 of 2015. It’s lead actor is played by Tori Matsuzaka.
It’s a story about a guy who only has his eye sight working after he got into an accident when he was 5 years old. He lost his other senses like his sense touch, his hearing, his sense of taste and smelling. He said he can “see” words and emotions and this ability is what he uses to find things.
This movie is actually a family kind of movie. Tabito, has an adopted daughter named Tei, who’s very much mature for her age. She is fully aware that they are not related by blood but she loves him just the same. And this love was tested at the latter part of the movie when Tabito decided to still use his ability to save Tei from her kidnapper, even if he gets totally blind..
This is an okay movie for me. It has its moments but there are certain part of it that I did not understand very much or rather it was not explained to the audience well. They mentioned the reason why he lost his other senses, but why was he able to keep his eye sight? How did he become Tei’s father? Was he a part of the Yakuza, as the group was mentioned a few times? What is the eye drop that he is using? What’s it for? These are the questions that I did not get answered.
Over all it is a movie I can recommend but it is for a 1 time viewing only.
PS: How did I do for my first movie review?
