- English Title: Liar Game
- Japanese: ライアーゲーム
I went through Seasons 1, 2, Zero, the Final Game, X, Fukunaga vs Tokoya, Alice in LIAR GAME and Liar Game reborn in just a few days, probably over a week or two.
Liar Game is a story that revolves around lies, deceit and betrayal. The question “Can honesty, trust and loyalty exists in such kind of environment?” has always been present. Kanzaki Nao (Toda Erika), proves that it can, with the help of Akiyama Shinichi (Matsuda Shota). At first I’ve been wondering why Akiyama stuck with the “stupidly honest” Kanzaki, then as the series progress you’d eventually find out.
I liked the psychological component of this series. I also love how they explain their strategies in a manner easy to understand. It’s thought-provoking and it has enough mystery that makes it exciting and engaging. It may not be perfect but it has its own magic as the story is fresh and unique.
What I like the least is how “positive” Kanzaki Nao’s character is. Is anybody really that cheerful? That positive? I actually cringe each time she gets deceived. Is anybody really that idiotic in real life? I’m not saying that I am a genius or something, but seriously, can anybody be that easy to deceive? I’m glad though that somehow, as the story progress, she learned her own strength even though she’s still as naive and positive to a fault.
The reborn, x and spin-offs are really not that important for the actual series, but it is a good “extra”, a nice addition.
I would definitely suggest that you guys (whoever reads this so called review) watch ALL of it, it’s worth your time and please let me know if you cringe as well every time Nao tries to save somebody from debt. 😛 LOL. It’s just hard to find some of them, but the 3 main part of the story (LAIR GAME, 2 and Final Stage) are easy to find.
Rating of 8.4/10 given at IMDb.
